Scholarship

You can find the information about scholarship programs offered by the Indonesian Government for the international students below. Dutch student only eligible for Dharmasiswa scholarship and Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship, while KNB scholarship is offered for international students from developing countries.

Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB Scholarship)

Managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB Scholarship) or Developing Countries Partnership Scholarship (DCPS) is targeting international students from developing countries to pursue Master's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a wide range of field of study offered in Indonesia's best universities. Application is open around April every year.

The structure of KNB consists of language training programme, preparatory programme, and academic programme – maximum of 8 (eight) semesters for Bachelor’s Degree and maximum of 4 (four) semesters for Master’s Degree. The scholarship covers living expenses, accommodation, insurance, books, and travel costs.

General Requirements

  • Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy in the respective country
  • Nomination letter from the respective government official (Ministry of Education, other related Government Agency – should the applicant works for the Government Agency or Embassy of the Applicant’s Country of Origin in Indonesia)
  • Two Academic Recommendation letters
  • Scanned passport (personal data page only) or birth certificate
  • Scanned bachelor certificate and academic transcripts (in English)
  • Scanned TOEFL or IELTS score certificate (or other English Proficiency Tests obtained within the last 2 (two) years
  • Scanned Official Medical Statement (Official Diagnose) prepared by a certified physician

Darmasiswa Scholarship

Darmasiswa is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Indonesian, art, and culture. This programme is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The main purpose of this program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural links and understanding among participating countries.

General Eligibility

  • Foreign nationals
  • Completed secondary education or its equivalent
  • 18-27 years old
  • Able to communicate in English (Proven by English Language Proficiency Certificate: TOEFL/TOEIC/IELTS or other certificate if applicable)
  • In good health as proven by Medical Certificate
  • Have basic knowledge of the field he/she applies for
  • Have a good interest to learning about language, art, and culture
  • Not registered as Darmasiswa’s Alumni
  • Not currently studying in Indonesia
  • Not currently working in Indonesia

 

General Requirements

  • Curriculum vitae/resume
  • Medical certificate
  • Valid passport with at least 24 months validity
  • Recommendation Letter from Education Institution/Professional Institution with official letterhead and signature (in English)
  • Latest academic transcript and certificates (in English)
  • Language certificate (if applicable)
  • Other certificates that related to the field he/she applies for (if applicable)
  • Color close-up photos
  • An essay about the purpose of study in English or Indonesian
  • A video about his/her motivation to join the programme and goals after the program as an ambassador of Indonesian culture (in English or Indonesian)

3. Beasiswa Seni dan Budaya Indonesia (BSBI)/ Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (IACS)

Beasiswa Seni dan Budaya Indonesia (BSBI) or Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (IACS) is a three-month non-degree programme organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in cooperation with Indonesian Embassies and Consulates overseas. The programme aims to cultivate a culture of cooperation, emerging from direct contact and sharing of cultures among people involved in the program, leading to thriving diplomatic relations in the region and worldwide.

Awardees will learn about Indonesian arts and culture in general while they stay in the art centers located in Bali, West Sumatera, East Kalimantan, East Java, South Sulawesi, and Yogyakarta. Thus the courses will be different in each art center depending on the local arts and culture.

The programme is open for applicants from member countries of ASEAN, ASEAN + 3, East Asia Summit, ASEAN Dialog Partners, ASEAN + European Union, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, Asia Europe Meeting, Africa Region, Melanesian Spearhead Group and members of South West Pacific Dialog. The scholarship will cover tuition fees (including extra-curricular activities), a round trip economy class ticket, accommodation (board and lodging), monthly allowance, and local transportation during the programme. All awardees are advised to have their own health insurance.

  • Possess basis skill in English

  • 2 (two) passport-sized photos with red-color background
  • A copy of passport with validity period at least 24 months
  • A copy of the academic diploma
  • A copy of the latest valid health certification from a qualified medical practitioner
  • A letter of recommendation
  • A personally signed statement
